MISTA MAC

Mista Mac is working hard to live out his dream of becoming a music icon. Mista Mac grew up somewhat of a scholar, with his intelligence coming almost too easy for him. He hopes to bring his book smarts mixed with street smarts to the world with his newly signed deal with Poe Boy Music Group.

“I like to think of myself as a cool nerd,” Mista Mac nonchalantly says. Explaining further, he grew up with two older, and very bright, sisters. In school, Mista Mac and his siblings stood out academically – and aced nearly every test and class they completed. While this would be any parents dream, to his parents’ dismay, Mista Mac spent just as much time in the streets as in the classroom.

“I never wanted to hang out with people my age – so hanging with the older dudes made me grow up much quicker. I would get into trouble but never anything that would affect me getting a job these days. I was just a curious kid,” says Mista Mac. These older guys introduced him to something they loved – music. Seeing that Mac had a gift for it, the guys would offer up old music equipment they were either upgrading or getting rid of entirely – making it easy for Mac to learn about production, writing and emceeing.

With all of the equipment at his fingertips, Mac went to work. A natural with the gift of gab, Mac took it upon himself to do some much-needed networking. He met Sam Sneak (Rick Ross’s DJ) in school and started to learn the art of deejaying. Since Mac already was making beats, Sam took him under his wing, introducing him to other people in the industry and showing him the ropes on the turntables.

“I was a straight A student in school and am a very quick study. I learned how to DJ by just watching Sam. He never really showed me how to do things because he wanted me to have my own style.” Soon enough, Mac was DJing his own gigs and making money while still in high school.

It was through his DJing and Sam’s connections that Mac met E Class, owner and CEO of Poe Boy Music Group. “E Class remembers, “When I met Mista Mac I knew he was a diamond in the rough. He is such a smart kid and when he sets out to do something, he does it.”

A few months after signing with Poe Boy Music Group, Mista Mac created a certified hit record with “Drop That” which samples the classic 80’s song “In A Dream” by Raquel Karen. The song features label mates Flo Rida and Brisco and another Miami artist Ball Greezy. The record has been receiving a lot of positive feedback and has been impacting radio as soon as it was released. It is currently going for ads at all stations and the David Rousseau directed video will be hitting BET & MTV real soon.

After graduating from high school, Mista Mac attended a trade school and got his certification as a computer networking technician. “I wanted something to fall back on but I know that my calling in music. I am young and think I have time to make it happen,” says Mista Mac.

Mista Mac says his musical taste runs the gamut from hip hop to classic rock, and everything in between. He hopes that his forthcoming debut will reflect his musical tastes, as he doesn’t want to be seen as just another rapper. “I talk about things I know – mainly women. I don’t do gangster rap because that’s not me – I didn’t have those types of experiences. I wasn’t always an angel growing up but I definitely wasn’t a gangster. Never been to jail, never sold drugs, just hung with people who did. I am really smart and knew better than to do that.”

Although Mista Mac has ghost written rhymes for many well known artists, he is excited to get started on his own album. He is currently in the studio working on his as-yet untitled release, working with big names such as J Rock, Brisco, Billy Blue and Flo Rida.
